Peter is spending a lot of time around Ruthie and the Camden family. Ruthie finds out about Mary and Carlos being married.

Ruthie runs down to meet up with Peter before they go to school, but her mother intercepts her and draws her into a bear hug. Ruthie finds out that Simon and Mary are coming home, and then realizes that Annie knows that Ruthie knows something she doesn't want to tell her mother; but before Annie gets the chance to ask, Ruthie runs out the door.

157. PK (a.k.a. Preacher's Kid)
Peter makes a deal with the school bully in an attempt to protect Ruthie.

Ruthie picks a shy new girl at school as her project and soon finds out that she has a secret. Meanwhile, Peter picks Ruthie as his project, which prompts her to tell him that they should spend less time together.

161. Getting to Know You
Eric and Annie throw a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" party for Ruthie's Muslim friend Jill Dupree (guest-star Randa Sabbah) and her parents (guest-stars Kamal Marayati and Yareli Arizmendi), but the Duprees are hesitant to attend. Eric is shocked and disappointed when he learns that his neighborhood is not a friendly place for Muslims.

162. Baggage (a.k.a. Out of the Past)
Ruthie announces she's heading out with Happy, so that they can join Peter and his dog to go to the rehab center. Chandler, Peter and Ruthie are having a good time with the rehab patients in a park. Ruthie feels like she's left out, because Cecilia gets to do so much around the house. After arguing with her mother, they work things out.

168. Healing Old Wounds
Finally, the twins, getting bored with Annie reading bedtime stories every night, want Ruthie to do so instead. She does so reluctantly, although it means she had to do her homework much later. Towards the end of the show, we see her and Eric have a father-daughter moment. She's lying in bed but with book in hand, stumped on an algebra problem. She says she can do it on her own. She then says she now has a better understanding of what Martin's father is going through.

169. Don't Speak Ill of the Dead or the Living
Ruthie and Peter put a bad spin on a school project that lands them in trouble when they create a newspaper featuring false and derogatory stories about two former U.S. presidents.

170. The Anniversary
Peter invites Ruthie to have a pizza, but she says she's preoccupied with something else. Ruthie is the only one who knows the truth about Matt and Sarah.

The Camdens, especially Lucy and Ruthie, grow concerned that an unusually joyful Annie isn't dealing with her true emotions following the death of her father Charles, but the happiness proves to be infectious as it soon spreads through the family and all over town.

Ruthie is upset with Martin because she thinks he will get the garage apartment instead of her when Lucy and Kevin move out.

Peter lies to Ruthie about his plans for the evening when she asks him to help her baby-sit the twins.

Ruthie and her boyfriend Peter get stranded after accidentally missing their bus during a school field trip. However, fate intervenes when the youngsters cross paths with "Lost Boys" Nicodemus and Jacob, who not only take care of them until Reverend Camden arrives, but also share the heartbreaking story of their struggle to stay alive during the civil war in Sudan.
