RUTHIE JUST WANTS TO BE A NORMAL KID
GLENOAK COMMUNITY CHURCH OFFICE DAY/RUTHIE'S DORM ROOM - NIGHT: Lucy says unless she's calling to say she's changed her mind about Mom and Dad don't even waster my time. Ruthie says please don't let them force her to go home. Please talk to them. Lucy: No. Ruthie says she's happy being halfway across the world, far away from church and the school where Matt, Mary and Simon went. She's no longer the preacher's kid. She's a normal girl here. Lucy asks, what's wrong with being the preacher's kid? There are a lot worse things to be. Ruthie says she's running out of minutes on her phone card. And says Lucy doesn't know what being a minister is about. She's supposed to help people even if they're related. If she can't handle it why doesn't she get out of the ministry?

Ruthie: What? Lucy?
Script notes: The phone goes dead. Ruthie starts looking for a charger. A GUY sticks his head in the room.
Ruthie tells the guy she's got problems. She thinks her parents are coming over practically unannounced. Her sister makes a cryptic comment about the family being disturbed --- not mentally but bothered disturbed. And then the phone goes dead.
The guy says when his parent told him they were coming, they told him they were getting a divorce. Ruthie reacts saying they would never get divorced. The guy says that's what they all say. She looks for the charger.
She dials Matt and leaves a message: Asks if he knows anything about Mom and Dad getting a divorce. They're coming over and that's the only thing it can be.
She dials Mary and leaves a message: Asks if she knows anything about the divorce. She says she knows Mom has been spending a lot of time there, but she didn't know it was because they were splitting up. She thought it was because she wanted to be with her and the babies.
She dials Simon and leaves a message: Asks if he knew they were getting divorced. Answer or she's going to be very upset. Urgent ... Call me ...
She settles into her bed and dials Matt. She talks to herself: Matt come on pick up, it's me and I'm running out of ... [The phone goes dead.] ... phone minutes. She scrambles to find another phone card.
